Daytime activities
The daytime activities are a core aspect of the Copenhagen Lindy Exchange. It’s a great way to meet and connect with other participants outside the dance floor, while seeing Copenhagen. This year we have a total of five different daytime activities, read about them all below.
Finding the daytime activities
Three of the daytime activities take place in the centre of Copenhagen: The canal tour and the parade on Saturday (right after each other), and the bike ride on Friday.
Use the map on the right to find your way there – as you can see all three meeting points are quite close to each other. If you zoom out you can also see the venues marked so you can see everything in relation to each other!
Culture talk with Momo
Join us on Sunday for an important talk on the history of Lindy Hop, swing dance and Jazz as an African-American art form.
Learning about the history and cultural roots of Lindy Hop and Swing is necessary to fully appreciate it. But how can we be sensible and understand the circumstances for black people now and back then? What could be a good way to discuss the dancing scene and its inclusivity today? Momo created a small portable format that breaks down the problematic and identifies the inherent racism that European societies have carried on for centuries. This is a chance to discuss how we can make our scene more inclusive.
The talk will be followed by a panel debate with invited guests and community discussion with the audience.
About the speaker
Momo is a passionate dancer from Osnabrück, and has been an integral part of the Lindy hop scene for over 4 years. Her party series “Happy Feet” and the big “Happy Feet Osnabrooklyn” festivals were immediate successes. Apart from teaching and performing, she is also known for being an amazing DJ.

Bike Tour
Join a 2-hour bicycle tour of Copenhagen on Friday the 5th of May, where you will bike around the city and visit the major sites including The Little Mermaid, Nyhavn, Rosenborg Castle, and more. Along the way your guide Rune will tell you about Danish history, and you will get insights into design, architecture, culture and current affairs as well. From the ancient vikings, to H.C. Andersen, to the current royal family and more.
Being probably the best guide in Copenhagen, Rune encourages dialogue and a fun relaxed atmosphere. You will be cycling between sites, enjoying the city on the way, and at each site stop and have a talk about the site and its context and significance. Rune is Danish, born and raised in Copenhagen, but fluent in English, so you will be in good hands.
The tour starts from the central city where Rune will teach you some tips about how to bike in Copenhagen to keep you safe and make sure you have a nice experience.
The tour has room for 16 participants. There are 10 spots for people who will be provided with quality bicycles at the starting point, and the remaining 6 will have to bring their own bikes. Select your preference in the form below. If you don’t have a bike, they can be rented off the street with the app Donkey Bike.
