The Bands

Gentleman and Gangsters

Gentlemen & Gangsters play traditional New Orleans hot jazz with all the flair and sophistication of true gentlemen, coupled with the ruthless brutality of hardened gangsters. Like a devious conspiracy from a bygone era, this shady syndicate of jazz kingpins plot for world domination from their secret location in a run down part of Gothenburg, Sweden. Armed with drumsticks instead of knuckledusters and trombones instead of tommy guns these deranged masterminds spread mayhem, joy, and decadence wherever they go.

Dancers from all over the world have praised Gentlemen & Gangsters for their energy, presence, and sensitivity, and they are very welcome visitors in Copenhagen.

They leave any dancer listening to them unable to keep still. So get ready to swing, sweat and feel the dance floor start to sizzle beneath your feet when Gentlemen & Gangsters do their thing.

Christoffer Johansson

If you have not yet experienced Christoffer Johansson, then there are no words to rightfully express just what happens when he enters a room and takes the stage. You have to be there.

And if you’ve been there, you know you want to experience it all over again.

Christoffer Johansson is one of the hottest musicians on the blues dancing scene. He has that rare ability of embodying a whole room and make it his. With a faultless sense of drama and suspense, he reproduces the blues, ballads and spirituals of early 20th century America.

Whether plucking his strings or just clapping out a rhythm, his gritty voice will keep you spellbound, hanging on every word, and dancing until dawn. Our blues room would not be the same without him. Which is why we are grateful that he is indeed back at Copenhagen Lindy Exchange 2018.

Jake Green

Jake Green Band is not your average blues musician. With his mesmerizing lead vocal, Jake Green delivers an artful mix of blues rock, heavy shuffles and heart-wrenching slow blues, sure to reverberate in your chest and soul.

Guitarist and singer Jake Green won the “Danish blues name of the year 2017” award, and has played with just about everyone on the Danish blues scene. Jake has also wielded his signature green Gibson guitar on stages in Austin, New York, London, Norway, Thailand, Italy and Spain to great acclaim. Drummer Hans Rosenberg has recorded over 160 albums and played all over the world with big names like Nanook, Teitur, Uffe Steen, and Rasmus Lyberth Band. Bass player Jens Simonsen has toured the world and recorded hundreds of albums both as a musician and as producer and sound technician.

Betty and the Blues

Betty – a.k.a. Elisabeth Børch – is not only one of the loveliest voices on the Copenhagen jazz & blues scene. She is also someone who has been dedicated to playing specifically for dancers for the last many years – and the dancers of Copenhagen love her for it.

One of her first ventures was with Kristians Ragtime Band and now she has jumped on the blues scene with her very own duo: Betty & The Blues. In addition to singing songs from the very earliest blues ladies such as Lucille Bogan and others, Elisabeth will add an old Danish acoustic folk song if the mood strikes. We look forward to a night of dancing to the delightful sound of Betty & the Blues.
